When you move around in a city, you rarely pay attention to efficient people flow – until it’s not there. Public places like metro stations can get extremely crowded during rush hours or special events. What if we could stop that happening?

KONE has been collaborating with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Prototyping team to create a 3D representation of physical spaces using AWS digital twin and cloud services, enabling us to help our customers build safer, more efficient, and more sustainable people flow experiences.

Elevators and escalators are among the safest modes of travel, but they’re not a playground. It’s important that we teach our young ones the safe way to use them, and our safety mascots Bob & Max are great at that!

Recently these two could be spotted in Tallinn as they visited a local daycare center in Saku. Max & Bob demonstrated to some 40 children how to safely ride an elevator and use an escalator, emphasizing the importance of following safety guidelines and using caution when around these machines.

It’s our global KONE Safety Week, and we had the honor of learning more about the links between psychological safety, employee trust, engagement, and physical safety from Clive Lloyd, Australian psychologist specializing in safety leadership and culture development.

“Behaviors are not the problem – behaviors are expressions of the problem! Understanding this leads to us asking different questions: instead of ‘Who did this?’ or ‘Who’s to blame?’, we ask ‘What happened?’, ‘Where does our work system enable, reward, or even require this?” says Clive.
